FAQS

Say what now?

Here are some of the most commonly asked questions or things I hear as a hula hoop teacher and hoopsmith. If you don’t find the answer you’re looking for, please reach out and I will get back to you as soon as possible.

I'VE NEVER BEEN ABLE TO HULA HOOP

Everyone can hula hoop. With a few pointers, some practice and the right hoop you'll have that hoop spinning in no time.

WILL HULA HOOPING HELP ME LOOSE WEIGHT?

Hula hooping is so effective for weight loss because you work many muscle groups at the same time. In addition, it is also a cardio workout. So during the workout you are doing both strength and endurance training. Its also great for improving your coordination, balance, toning up and a real mood booster.

WHAT'S THE BEST HOOP FOR ME ?

This will depend on what your after from your hoop but generally when starting out bigger is better.

If you're after a fitness hoop, go for a 25mm MDPE hoop of between 38-42". If you're looking to start hoop dancing/ tricks then a 20mm beginners hoop measuring from the floor to an inch or two above your belly button is a great place to start. Polypto tubing is great for tricks as its light and super responsive.

HOW TO SAFELY COLLAPSE AND UNCOLLAPSE YOUR HOOP

Your hoop of dreams has arrived,

Here's a video of how to safely collapse and uncollapse your hoop.

If the button is stiff you can use something sharp to push it down.  DO NOT twist, this will break the connector and make the hoop unusable. If you have pushed the button and wiggled abit and its still stuck, apply a little heat with a hair dryer and it will come apart. The hoop will give over time.

MY HOOP IS A WEIRD SHAPE

Sometimes your hoop can get kinked or out of shape, if this happens leave it in the sun and it should go back into its original shape, or under a matress or furious knee hooping are all options.

If your hoop has been collapsed for travel or postage, leave it unbuttoned for at least a few hours if possible,.

MY HOOP ISNT THE RIGHT SIZE FOR ME, CAN I RETURN IT?

Unfortunately all hoops are made to order and sales are final unless the hoop is faulty.

HOW TO CARE FOR MY POLYPRO

Polypro doesnt like the cold and can become brittle, try to avoid high impact moves like wedgies and break when hooping in the cold as this may snap your hoop.

Dont leave your hoop collapsed when storing it as this will put a lot of strain on the connector and make the tubing wonky.

CAN YOU DO ALL OF THOSE?

Yes.
